Personal Statement

 

Media and communication graduate looking for a radio or podcast production role. Experience with editing, producing and tailoring content to different audiences and platforms maximising reach and impressions, Including training by BBC and Sky employees on brand representation, styling and management. I graduated with a 2:1 and have gained additional extensive experience with organising teams, events and representing brands in consultations with other businesses and audience members alike. Have worked independently and as part of teams to cater to different and diverse audiences across a variety of media productions and brands.

 

 

Experience

 

  • July 2019 – Current: New Creatives training scheme, Screen South and BBC Sounds

Trained in all aspects of directing and producing for pre-recorded radio dramas, directed and produced a drama entitled ‘Online’.

 

  • July 2019: Work Shadowing with Content Services, SKY

Learnt about content handling, media management, archiving and quality checking for broadcast.

 

  • January 2019 – February 2019: Work Shadowing on Nihal Arthanyake, BBC Radio 5 Live

Worked with producers and the programme controller, building the programme and planning content. Monitored and participated in researching and studio operation.

 

  • January 2018 – July 2019: Producer and Editor for Verse First Podcast

Recorded, edited and mastered episodes. Managed studio assistants and created audio pre-sets for consistency between episodes.

 

  • September 2017 – July 2019 Deputy Assistant Producer for Scratch TV

Oversaw show production, organised location-based filming, edited, assembled production crews and researched viability of proposals.

 

  • September 2017 – July 2019: Producer and Head of Station Sound for Scratch Radio

Produced adverts and sound packages for broadcast, managed social media posts, recorded and edited pre-recorded programmes and organised talent.

 

  • April 2017 – July 2019: Producer for Brum Radio/Geeky Brummie Podcast

Recorded and edited shows and podcasts. Contributed to content planning and social media management.

 

  • June 2018: Work Placement on The Archers, BBC Radio 4

Learnt about and contributed to timing recordings, making notes, administrative duties including write ups for the website and presenter sheets for programme announcers.

  • Audio editing and recording experience – Several years experience with Avid Pro Tools, Adobe Audition and Dira Highlander SciSYS at FADE Radio, Verse First Podcast, Geeky Brummie Podcast and Scratch Radio.

 

  • Backing up and archiving – Three years of experience with managing existing archives of audible and visual content as well as uploading new content for Scratch TV, FADE Radio and Geeky Brummie Podcast.

 

  • Organisation and attention to detail – Confident and passionate when working to deadlines and schedules to find information and get content ready for broadcast.

 

  • Research and casting skills – Three years of experience in fact checking, leasing with participants and contributors for FADE Radio, Scratch TV, Scratch Radio and Geeky Brummie Podcast.

 

  • Strong group and independent work skills – Working in various radio and video production teams, with an extensive knowledge of OFCOM and BBC ethics guidelines from leading previous radio productions.

 

  • Problem Solving – Couple of years experience handling disputes between other staff on productions as well as contributors who are late or absent, working out how best to resolve this and ensure that content is still produced on time.

 

  • Interpersonal skills – Various levels of experience with online and face-to-face communication with listeners, contributors and professionals. Securing clients and interviews for FADE Radio, Scratch TV and Scratch Radio.
